| Oh my, we've all been so into our face to face conversations we haven't added to our Learning Page here! Now that we have all had to part ways again, let's get back to documenting our day's learning through our PLN right here!! I have been learning today about the many apps for iPod Touch since mine finally arrived. Going through the tweets of @coreydahlevent from the iTouch session he attended! Edited to add: also more apps on @wfryer blog! Thanks for taking good notes guys! |

I learned about various screen capture softwares and tools. While I have tried Jing, I find that it is sometimes hard to work with SWF files. Also, it has a 5 minute limit and requires you to download the software to your computer. I usually use Screen-Cast-O-Matic because it's web-based and you can save your files and MPEG-4s. The one I'm looking forward to trying is ScreenToaster. It, too, saves Flash files, but I'm willing to try it. The problem I have with Flash files is that they are not always embeddable in the Wikis and Websites I use with my kids. YouTube is blocked by the District, so I can't put them up there. I am hoping, in the coming year, to use screen capture software/tools as tutorials for students who may have missed the lesson and/or to avoid wasting time reteaching things that could be refreshed/taught using a tutorial.
Anyone have any good sites for storing video that might not be blocked by a filter?
Hard to believe Youtube is blocked... Try Google Video, TeacherTube.com, etc. The best solution would be for your district to give you some space for storage on their webserver so that you could keep them as private as you wanted. It would also make file management much easier if they were all located on a "local" drive. -Ryan

| There is a new Blooms Taxonomy available - version 2.0, if you will. It takes into account the newer web 2.0 technologies and uses verbs rather than nouns for descriptors. Who knew? http://bit.ly/PXkIW |
